EABL looking to reduce carbon emissions by 40,000 tons per annum

 EABL set to reduce its carbon emissions by 95 percent annually 

  • company set to reduce 42,000 tonnes in carbon emissions per year in Kshs 5.1 billion investment  
  • renewable energy effort part of Kshs 26 billion Diageo sustainability investment in African breweries

EABL targets to become Net Zero in its direct operations by 2030. To this end, its sites run on 96.9 percent renewable electricity for its operations, above its target of 95 percent.

Aligned with its agenda of transitioning to a circular economy model, EABL has maintained zero tonnes of waste to landfill from its direct operations. Additionally, 100 percent of all plastics use at EABL’s sites are widely recyclable, reusable and compostable, which is higher than in 2021, where 90 percent of its plastics were widely recyclable. It is also higher than its 2022 target of 98 percent.
