A major boost to East Africa’s clean energy sector has been announced following a strategic partnership between Plexus Energy Kenya and Growatt.
The partnership is aimed at expanding access to advanced solar technologies across the region.
The agreement will see Plexus Energy Kenya distribute and deploy Growatt’s inverter solutions across Kenya and the wider East African market, targeting businesses and institutions seeking reliable and cost-effective alternatives to grid electricity.
The partnership was officially unveiled during a high-profile launch event held at PrideInn Westlands, which brought together key players in the solar industry, including EPC contractors, energy experts, and commercial decision-makers.
The event featured live product demonstrations, technical briefings, and networking sessions focused on accelerating clean energy adoption.
The move comes at a time when businesses in Kenya and across the region continue to grapple with unreliable grid power and rising electricity costs, challenges that have increased demand for alternative energy solutions.
Speaking during the launch, Plexus Energy Kenya CEO Edward Kinyanjui said the partnership represents a shift from conventional solar solutions to more intelligent and integrated energy systems.
“We are moving from basic solar to intelligent energy ecosystems that monitor every unit of power, generate income, and are designed for how Kenya actually works,” Kinyanjui said.
He emphasised that the company’s mission extends beyond selling equipment to addressing critical energy needs across sectors.
“At Plexus, we did not start this journey to sell panels or inverters. We started it to make sure businesses don’t stop, schools don’t go dark, and hospitals don’t go silent. In Africa, power is not a convenience — it is survival. This partnership with Growatt is the next step in that mission,” he added.
Growatt, one of the world’s leading solar inverter manufacturers, boasts a global installed capacity exceeding 100 gigawatts across more than 150 countries.
Its portfolio includes residential, commercial, and utility-scale solar systems, as well as energy storage and electric vehicle charging solutions.
Through the partnership, Plexus Energy Kenya will provide access to Growatt’s full range of inverter technologies, including on-grid, off-grid, hybrid, and storage systems. The collaboration also promises localized technical support and after-sales services through Plexus’ field engineering teams.
Additionally, the initiative will offer competitive pricing for commercial and industrial clients looking to reduce dependence on the national grid and diesel generators, a key concern for many businesses facing high operational costs.
The partnership also places a strong emphasis on skills development, with plans to train solar installers and technicians through the Plexus Solar Academy. This is expected to strengthen local capacity and support the growth of the renewable energy sector.
Plexus Energy Kenya currently serves over 3,000 clients across the region, including in Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Rwanda.
The partnerships is expected to play a critical role in advancing energy transition efforts in East Africa, where demand for reliable, affordable, and sustainable power continues to grow.
